Window-Eyes 4.21 sets for Ultimate Cribbage Last Modified January 19, 2003 The set files are: crib.000, crib.001, crib.chr, crib.dic, and crib.we. This file is crib.txt. Some basics about the game. The game has a setting for speech on which uses the Microsoft Speech Engine for some announcements. There are also good sound effects. I recommend using the standard layout. Be sure and maximize the screen. The cards are displayed in a row and you need to remember the positions of the cards so you can know what cards you are putting into the crib and which you are playing. For example, if you are dealt: ace of spades, 3 of hearts, 5 of clubs, 5 of diamonds, jack of hearts, and the jack of diamonds, their positions are: 1. ace of spades, 2. 3 of hearts, 3. 5 of clubs, 4. 5 of diamonds, 5. jack of hearts, and 6. the jack of diamonds. So, if you want to put the ace and three in the crib, you type 1 2 and hit enter. Then, your cards are: 1. 5 of clubs, 2. 5 of diamonds, 3. jack of hearts, and 4. the jack of diamonds. So when you play a card in the 31 round, you type the position of that card and hit enter. Remember, each time you play a card, the positions shift to fill in. So, when you play a card, then you only have positions 1 2 and 3, etc. F3 starts a new game, and f2 deals the cards unless you have those set to happen automatically in the options. If you do not want to be known as "anonymous" throughout the game, change the player name under the game menu, player. There are two hyperactive windows that if you use the standard layout will automatically read what you are dealt and the score when the round is over. If you need to double check what you were dealt, hit alt+d. When it is time to score the hand, you will need to navigate with the mouse keys. When the game displays your cards and you want to double check them, you will have to use the mouse keys to find your cards. I do this by routing the mouse to the cursor and then using the mouse up key on the keypad to find where it says, Richard's cards or crib cards. Note: Due to my personal preference, I have a few changes from the Window-eyes defaults: Hyperactive roter = control+shift+tilde Route Mouse to Window = alt+grave accent Redraw = alt+back-slash user Window Status = control+alt+grave accent time/date = control+alt+t read current line = control+l My apologies to anyone who doesn't like these settings and has to take the time to change them. Good luck, Richard richard@turner42.com
