Eudora set files for version 6.X for Window-Eyes 4.5 Modified by Richard Turner July 10, 2004 Screen resolution when I did these sets was 32 bit color 800x600. (The original readme.txt file from the Eudora factory sets follows my E-mail address at the end of my changes.) I made a few changes in the eudora.000 file. I added a hyperactive window to tell you when you are in type over mode. Hyperactive Window #A says "Type over" when in that mode and Window-Eyes will just say insert when you press the insert key to get out of type over mode. I also changed the speaking of capital letters under the Window-Eyes control panel under keyboard to say cap. I like to make sure when I have typed a capital letter. I labeled the icons for unread, attachment, etc. for 32 bit color under XP. alt+2 will read the "to" field to double check that you entered the correct address. I added some key labels: control+0=Out Box control+1=inbox control+d=message deleted control+e=Send control+h=attachment control+j=junk control+k=Addressbook entry (unless you are in your junk folder, then it means not junk) control+l=Addressbook control+m=Check mail control+n=new control+r=reply control+t=Send queued Signatures: I added a cursor key which allows you to open the signature list and then to choose one. alt+g = opens the signature list. From here, you have to route the mouse to the list and left click on the one you want. I changed the redraw screen hot key to alt+grave-accent. I change the time and date to control+alt+t. Below is the list of keyboard shortcuts from the Eudora help file. Note that there are two main conflicts with Window-Eyes hot keys. control+shift+f in Eudora is Find Text and control+shift+r in Eudora is Reply to All. To use these Eudora functions you will need to use the bypass key for Window-Eyes, insert+b before the keys above. The keyboard shortcuts for Eudora functions are as follows: Ctrl + 0 Opens Out mailbox Ctrl + 1 Opens In mailbox Ctrl + 6 Checks spelling Ctrl + ' (apostrophe) Pastes as quotation Ctrl + , (comma) Finishes nickname Ctrl + . If you have any questions about the above changes to the set files, you can contact me at: richard@turner42.com From here on, the text of this file is the same as the readme.txt file included with the factory set files. Version: Eudora 3.X, 4.X, 5.X Setup: Graphics are labeled for 256, and 16bit for both Windows 98 and Windows Me, and 32bit for Windows XP. When in 16bit color, the status of a read message will be spoken. This does not happen in 256 color. Maximize the application window with ALT-SPACE, then X. Maximize the child window with ALT-DASH, then X. Page Up and Page Down are set to read field data. Window-Eyes now supports four different ways to read your mail in Eudora: 1. Preview Pane = off, Microsoft Viewer = off - with this option, your messages will be displayed with the default Eudora viewer. 2. Preview Pane = on, Microsoft Viewer = off - with this option, you will be able to preview your messages without opening them. You can use your TAB key to move between the list of messages, and the preview pane. The preview pane in this option uses the default Eudora viewer. 3. Preview Pane = off, Microsoft Viewer = on - with this option, your messages will be displayed with an IE viewer, allowing your messages to be read using MSAA. This is similiar to how messages are displayed in Outlook Express. All MSAA commands will apply. 4. Preview Pane = on, Microsoft Viewer = on - with this option, you will be able to preview your messages without opening them using the IE viewer. You will have to use the bypass hotkey (INS-B) before you can CTRL-TAB back to the list of messages. Again, all MSAA commands will apply. These options can be found in the viewing mail options dialog, under the Tools pulldown. While using these options, you may find that too much information is being read. To combat this, you can use the TabooHeaders option in the Eudora.ini file. The taboo header works by telling Eudora not to display any header beginning with any of the letter combinations you include in the entry. For instance, if you just put: TabooHeaders=x Then any header that begins with the letter "x" will not be displayed. If you put: TabooHeaders=rec, ref,x Then headers that begin with "x", "rec" (the RECEIVED header), and "ref" (the REFERENCES header) will not be displayed, but it will display headers like REPLY-TO. You may also add NoSplashScreen=1 to the eudora.ini to keep the initial splash screen from displaying, therefore minimizing more verbosity. For more information regarding ini entries, please contact Eudora at http://www.eudora.com. These set files can be made to work with any version of Eudora simply by launching Eudora and associating eudora.000 with it. You can do this by following these steps: 1. Launch Eudora 2. Press control-\ to bring up the Window-Eyes control panel 3. Press alt followed by f to bring up the file menu 4. Press o to open a set file and open eudora.000 5. Press alt followed by f to open the files menu 6. Press s twice to save the set file Hotkeys: Window-Eyes will say the word "link" when the mouse pointer is over a URL that can be double clicked upon to launch your web browser. You can also hit enter while your cursor is on the link in order to activate it. Note that the Label Field hotkey has been re-defined to CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-F, instead of CTRL-INS-F (which is the find hotkey).
