Window-Eyes 4.21 sets for HTML Validator 3.X and 5.x Last modified December 20, 2002 by Richard Turner The set files in the html-validator.zip file are: vcl50.000 vcl50spl.000 vcl50.we and this file, html-validator.txt In the spell checker: When a word is not found in the dictionary, Window-Eyes will automatically speak the word not found and the first suggestion. If you need to have that repeated, hit control+w to hear the word not found and control+r to hear the replacement word. If you need to hear the various buttons that you can use to make changes, hit alt+5. Alt+9 reads the status line. The parts of the status line are: the line number the column number insert or typeover mode, (insert equals ins and typeover equals over). The state of the document, unchanged, saved, spell checking, etc. alt+1 will read the results window after you have started validating the document. This window often does not read completely, so you may want to use the mouse by hitting numpad+1 to go to the bottom left and then numpad+8 to move up into that window. If you left click in that window you will move the cursor into it and you can move around with the standard cursor keys. When you have read the entire message, warning, error, whatever, hit alt+down arrow to get the next message and your standard cursor will be back in the document where that error occurs. I would encourage anyone using the program to read the helps and go through the options very carefully. One thing that can make it easier to use is to validate using the batch wizard. This will create a report in an html format and open it in your browser. It is a bit easier to go through all the messages, warnings, comments and errors this way. Currently, the only accessible free version is version 3.0. The only accessible standard or professional version is 5.03 and before. Since those versions, the author has gone to a menu system that is not accessible. He is working with the author of the menu component to fix it, but for now, you can either use the free version from my web site, or write to support@htmlvalidator.com to inquire about purchasing an earlier version. Note: Due to my personal preference, I have a few changes from the Window-eyes defaults: Hyperactive roter = control+shift+tilde Route Mouse to Window = alt+grave accent Redraw = alt+back-slash user Window Status = control+alt+grave accent time/date = control+alt+t read current line = control+l My apologies to anyone who doesn't like these settings and has to take the time to change them.
